Art Trek
Observing Nature
For students entering: Grades 3-6
Dates: July 12th - 15th, 2010
Time: 9:00 A.M.-3:30 P.M.

The goal of the ART TREK outdoor education program is to open stimulating and exciting vistas for experimentation and creativity in the visual arts. Painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, and many other art activities will be offered. County art teachers will conduct the workshops. Students will have the opportunity to work in many different activities as well as become acquainted with new friends with similar artistic interests. Swimming and canoeing will be offered for each student. These activities will be supervised by certified aquatic instructors at all times.

Transportation
Students will be picked up at designated bus stops each morning and returned each afternoon. Bus schedules will be sent at a later date.

Cost
$275.00 ($100.00 deposit, $175.00 to be paid upon acceptance.) Financial Assistance Scholarships my be available to students.

Meals
Students will be provided with lunch and a snack each day.

Application Procedures
1. Students must complete the Art Trek application Form.
2. The Teacher Nomination Form on page 4 must be completed for each applicant.
3. The school office will supply the SIF number.
4. A $100.00 deposit must be sent with application forms (refunded if the student is not accepted). Make the check payable to Anne Arundel County Public Schools.
5. Student Application Form, Teacher Nomination Form, and a $100.00 deposit must be returned by March 19, 2010.

6. Selection by Committee will be based on the student application and the teacher’s nomination.
7. Selection decisions will be mailed to parents of applicants from the Art Office on April 9, 2010

Follow-up Mailing to Participants
Students selected to participate will receive a map to Arlington Echo, a student camper information form, and a sample schedule of activities for the week as well as transportation information.
